Q.Will I be able to take the work that I do back with me. A. Yes. All work is done on Craft paper which is easily tranported. A variety of sizes of work are created but all can roll up very easily into tubes. Some work is done on board for your portfoloio but only if you want. You may work on the craft paper instead. Q. Are notes handed out during the course. A. Not many. Some professors supply notes in the form of photocopies. These would be to help explain the way that blocks of marble are cut so that you can understand the reasons that there are different types of pattern in the same type of marble. Or a diagram of the patterns of different kinds of woods. However the administrative staff are fluent in English and are more than happy to answer questions that you might have. Q. Will the school organise accomodation for me in Paris. A. No. Q. Is there a recognised certificate at the end of the course to show that it has been completed. A. Yes. It depends on the course which you take. The Intensive short training session towards "Decorative Painter" results in a Degree (SCI). Many other of the intensive courses also result in a regognised certificate upon completion. Check out the calender page for more information on this. Q. What about materials. Do I have to bring my own. A. You can bring your own materials if you want to. Other than grounds and some paints, the atelier do not provide materials for the students. There is a kit which the students may purchase (at a very reduced rate) from Colorine which includes all the brushes and paints which they may need for the course. It is a very complete kit and contains brushs of the highest quality not normally available to art students or to decorators without ordering. To visit the Colorine site goto http://www.colorine.fr Q. Are Colorine in any way associated with the Atelier. A. Only in so far as they supply the atelier with materials from time to time. We recommend them because they are good and their prices are very reasonable, particularly by American standards for such specialised brushes. |
